A great start to the 2017 season for Basingstoke Wolverines

The Basingstoke Wolverines are the longest running competitive cheerleading squad in North Hampshire and attended their first competition of the season at Legacy Cheer & Dance, Copperbox Arena, London. The Allstar Cheer Squad took a total of 5 teams to compete at Levels 1, 2 and 3

Mystique are the youngest of the Basingstoke Wolverines Cheer Squads (aged 5 to 11) and competed at Youth Level 1. This was the first ever competition for 10 out of the 13 athletes and they showed no nerves to hit their routine and finished 2^ndout of 7 teams in their division and hit Zero Deductions.

Prodigy are the youngest of the Basingstoke Wolverines Cheer Squads (aged 5 to 11) and competed at Youth Level 2. The squad hit a fast clean routine and finished 3^rd out of 9 teams in their division.

Storm are the eldest of the Basingstoke Wolverines Cheer Squads (aged 12+) and competed at Senior Level 1. They competed in a hard division and finished 4^th out of 11 teams in their division

Queens are the newest formed team in the Wolverines (aged 12+) and competed at Senior Level 2. They pulled off the performance of the weekend finishing 2^nd out of 9 teams in their division and hit Zero Deductions.

Rogue are the eldest of the Wolverines (aged 12+) and competed at Senior COED Level 3. This was by far the hardest competition of the weekend and Rogue smashed it and finished in 1^st place out of 4 teams.

Kayleigh Fennell, Head Coach at Basingstoke Wolverines said: "I could not be prouder of these athletes. We entered 3 new divisions this season where we placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd and had a high influx of brand new athletes that could not of made us prouder. These results reflect what a fantastically hard working and competitive club we have and this stems down to the athletes work ethic and the amazing job our volunteers and coaches do"

The programme and squads are getting stronger and larger with new athletes signing up for our development squad Shadowcats which enables athletes to gain and learn new skills and gain confidence before deciding whether to join a competitive squad.

The club trains five times a week at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's and Friday’s with times depending on squads.

Wolverines Tear Up The Floor in Nottingham

The Basingstoke Wolverines Cheerleading Squad took three squads to Nottingham to compete in the ICC British Open with a total of 45 athletes and their second competition of the season.  This was by far the hardest competition that they will compete in this season and the standard was incredible, competitors team programmes delivered outstanding routines with some incredible unique and innovative performances.

The Wolverines youngest squad Mystique comprising of girls aged 5 to 11 with an average age of 9 competed at Youth Level 1 Small Division and finish in 5th place out of 12 teams and achieved their weekend goal of 0 point deductions.  This was another great result for Mystique against the best teams in the country with long established squads.

Storm squad made up of girls from 12 years plus competed at Senior Level 1 Small Division and finished in 5th place out of 6 teams.  The girls pulled out a fantastic routine and performance but the competition was just too good for the squad to place any higher.

Rogue squad made up of girls up to 14 years of age competed at Junior Level 2 Small Division and finished in 7th place out of 9 teams.  This was only the second performance from the new squad rogue and they completed a fantastic routine with 0 point deductions.

The squads always push themselves to compete against the best and this can only make them stronger and better for the future and they are working hard in training to get ready for their next competition in June at Jamfest Europe, Liverpool.

Chloe Pullen, Assistant Coach at Basingstoke Wolverines said "I'm so proud of all 3 teams this weekend, we attended one of the hardest competitions we've ever been to and all 3 squads held their own and hit their routines! With two teams hitting zero deductions! I'm unbelievably proud of all the girls and can't wait for the next one!"
